Custom Window Wood Luxury Wall

When we are told about windows, we often imagine the same picture: a rectangular opening in the wall, divided into two or three parts. This window shape is indeed the most popular and has remained so for the last couple of centuries. But in the modern world, where people are looking for new solutions in the renovation and every day invent something more original, it is strange to think that the windows in your house can be exclusively rectangular and plastic.

MATERIAL

A hundred years ago, it was impossible to imagine windows that were not made of wood. In addition to the obvious problems in the spirit of susceptibility to fungi and general fragility, they had a disadvantage that spoiled everything for the inhabitants of the metropolis: the almost complete absence of noise cancellation. Fortunately, technologies do not stand still, and metal-plastic windows. Their main drawback is the white frame, which, however, is easy to repaint or decorate with vinyl decals. The advantages of this design are low price, ease of installation and versatility.

The next option, a little more expensive, is aluminum. Most often they are installed in office premises. Among the advantages are heat and sound insulation, various designs, and the service life. Aluminum construction can last up to 70 years without constant physical stress. They are also resistant to burning.

The last option, the most expensive, but at the same time, the best retaining heat is wood. The disadvantage of modern wooden windows is exactly one: the price, which can sometimes be really exorbitant. Among the pluses are exquisite design solutions, excellent thermal insulation, good suppression of street noise.

GLASS GLAZING

A chamber in a glass unit is a gap between sheets of special glass, filled with air or argon. Their number affects, first of all, the thermal insulation capabilities of the window. In modern designs, most often from two to seven to eight air chambers. You can find out their number by counting the number of glass sheets and subtracting one. For example, in a design with three chambers, there will be four sheets of glass, in a five-chamber design, six, and so on.

Custom Window Triple Glass Room

Multi-chamber windows are essential in cold regions where keeping a room warm can be challenging. For warm cities without sudden changes in the weather and with average humidity, two or three cameras will be enough, this is the most popular option on the market.

THE FORM

But in matters of form, manufacturers seem to compete in originality. A rectangle with a window? No matter how it is! Currently, there are windows of the most bizarre shapes and the popularity of some of them is gaining momentum more and more in recent years.

The most classic of all the unusual options is, of course, round windows. The glass unit in them can be either solid or broken into an arbitrary number of sectors. The one-piece construction has an obvious disadvantage: it is difficult to leave the window unventilated or to provide a partial flow of air into the room. Also, such glass will be quite heavy, which also complicates the ability to slightly open the window. On the other hand, a large round window with a one-piece glass unit will be a real decoration for your interior. Windows with several sectors also have their drawbacks: they are more susceptible to damage, if only due to the fact that the number of parts that can break or initially has a manufacturing defect increases. But they allow you to well regulate the ventilation of the room and provide good air circulation in it due to the ability to slightly open different parts of the window to different widths. However, most often round windows are made deaf, that is, without the ability to open the sash.

Another disadvantage: by installing a round window, you deprive yourself of a window sill, which often serves as a functional space (unless, of course, you decide to put a huge window on the entire wall, then you will be provided with an extra shelf or place to rest).

Another popular option is arched windows. They are of the correct shape, as well as a lancet, horseshoe-shaped and semicircular. Like round windows, arched windows are often blind. In case you need the ability to open a window, you will have to spend time with the wizard to correctly calculate all the necessary data since the same structures have their own specifics of use. The disadvantage of such windows is the complexity and, accordingly, a longer production time due to their non-prevalence.

The upper sector of an arched window is most often non-functional. If there is enough light in the room, take a look at the mosaics and stained glass windows. Not only can they replace paintings on the walls, but they can also decorate your room with a special light, especially at sunrise or sunset.

Triangular windows are a great solution for an attic or for placement under a pointed roof. The main thing in them is that all angles should be sharper than thirty degrees. Double-glazed windows in such windows, more often than in others, are solid, not divided into sectors, and sometimes devoid of a ventilation mode, or vice versa – opening only a short distance. Also, a triangular window is a rather bright accent in the interior, which means that you need to choose it with special care, it is advisable to consult with professional designers and decorators. But for an attic room, this is one of the best solutions that will provide excellent lighting and a special appearance of the building.

Trapezoidal windows are also very popular for upper floors. Their plus is a double-glazed window, often divided into three parts, divided across, where the middle part is static or opens only for the upper ventilation, and the two extreme ones have both a ventilation mode and the ability to open them wide open. Also, this shape allows you to equip a window sill as an additional space for little things and plants, or lay a blanket on it, throw a couple of pillows and get an excellent place to relax with a view of nature.

WINDOW TO THE WORLD

It should be remembered that almost any window shape, except for classic rectangles, is not so popular in use, which means that individual production is necessary, which can take several days or even weeks. The cost of individual production will also be much higher than if you buy a ready-made structure. Take care of ordering windows in advance, consult with the designer and weigh well all the pros and cons of each option.

The main thing to be guided by when choosing windows is the climate of your region. Almost any shape can be made if there are craftsmen or firms in your city who are engaged in this, but too flimsy windows that do not keep heat well can become a serious problem in cool areas. Like windows without a ventilation mode, they are hardly suitable for residents of hot countries, where the stuffiness in the premises at noon becomes unbearable. Therefore, start installing the window with a decision about the material and the number of cameras (the more cameras, the warmer), and leave the choice of shape for later. And be sure to consult with the manufacturer about the opening modes that the design has, so as not to stay in a room with tightly closed windows in the heat.
