Depending on the goals that the buyer is guided by when choosing a lock, they are divided into the following types:
LATCHES
This type of interior locks is considered the simplest and most common. Most often, latches are installed on the doors of the living room or kitchen. Its presence, first of all, allows you to reliably fix the door, thus providing protection from draft and noise. The advantage of this type of structure lies in their simplicity, ease of use and durability. Latches can be roughly divided into three types:

OVERHEAD LOCKS
These locks differ in the way they are installed; they are mounted to the door leaf on the right or left side. These locks are easy to install, which is their main advantage. But at the same time, they also have a significant drawback, namely, an unaesthetic appearance. That is why they are significantly inferior in popularity to other types of interior locks.
MORTISE LOCKS
Locks that are installed in the door leaf and are similar in appearance to locks for entrance doors. Such installations are distinguished by a convenient opening mechanism and, unlike overhead installations, are considered more aesthetic. But at the same time, mortise locks are characterized by the complexity of installation. They are not recommended for use in glass doors.
MAGNETIC LOCKS
This type of locks is much more popular than other mechanical designs. This fact can be explained by the fact that magnetic locks are considered the most aesthetic option that fits perfectly into any modern interior. Moreover, unlike others, they have a significant advantage – absolute noiselessness. This allows them to be installed on the doors of a bedroom or a children’s room. Magnetic locks are durable, durable and safe. Due to the presence of such significant advantages, magnetic locks have the highest cost.
SLIDING DOOR LOCKS
This is a special mechanism that is used exclusively for sliding doors. Sliding door locks can be either mechanical or magnetic. In the case of mechanical ones, the latch is most often in the form of a hook. They can be located either on the side of the door leaf or at the bottom. The first option is considered more convenient and more common. When choosing locks for sliding doors, you should definitely take into account the material of the door and the overall design of the room. Because such locks attract a lot of attention and are in a prominent place.
