Narrow room design

Is it possible to make the interior of narrow rooms optimal? That they would not seem narrow, elongated, and cramped?

Consider some techniques to help make a narrow room wider, more cozy, and comfortable:

• Use light tones on the walls that are closer to each other, and dark tones on the walls, which are farther from each other – so visually space will be perceived more square and correct

• Use as many mirrored and reflective surfaces as possible on walls close to each other – so a narrow room will appear larger

• On one of the walls close to each other, glue a photo wallpaper with a panorama of a landscape, a bird’s eye view of the city, etc. This technique will visually create additional space in the room.

• Ceilings and walls in narrow rooms should be light, white, so the space in general will appear larger.

• It is better to place the kitchen wall along the wall that is farther from each other, so the kitchen space will not seem so narrow. If the kitchen wall is placed along the walls that are close to each other, then this will further emphasize the irregular narrow shape of the room.

• On one of the walls close to each other, place a photo wallpaper or a fresco with a panorama or landscape, this technique will visually expand the narrow space.

Narrow living room

• Zoning a narrow living room – for example, put a dining table (living-dining room), separate an office with a bookcase, etc.

• Place ceiling shapes across the narrow part of the living room.

• On one of the walls close to each other, glue striped or abstract wallpaper or place a fresco with a panorama. So the space of a narrow living room will visually look more correct proportion.

Narrow entrance hall, narrow hall

• In a narrow hallway, there must be mirrors or mirrored doors of the wardrobe.

• The color of the walls and ceiling in a narrow corridor (hallway) should be as close to white as possible, then the narrow hallway will seem larger than it really is.
